She will be offering structure and advice to participants many of whom will novice improvisers and first time virtual jammers. Tanya is a young NYC-based artist dedicated to sharing the unique expression of movement, sound, and emotion. Her tap dancing has been featured in a Professional Artist Profile for the PBS Television show “Pinkalicious and Peterriffic.” She has taught at and performed at leading institutions and tap festivals around the world including Broadway Dance Center, The Joffrey Ballet School, The New York City Tap Festival (Tap City), Tap Dance Festival UK, The Big Apple Tap Festival, and Tap in Rio.

She is now a principal dancer and assistant choreographer in connection with the works of renowned tap dancer Jason E. Bernard (Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk, Riverdance, After Midnight), an Artist in Residence at The American Tap Dance Foundation in NYC. She has performed at the iconic Birdland Jazz Club, has been featured in publications such as The Financial Times, Dance Teacher Magazine, Broadway World, and Chacott World Report, and her performances can be found in the permanent archives of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Tanya is pursuing a B.A. in Performance Studies at NYU’s Tisch School of The Arts and is currently founding the university’s first tap club.

Tanya is grateful for the opportunity to learn from and have studied with many outstanding artists such as Guillem Alonso, Jason E. Bernard, Brenda Bufalino, Dormeshia, Michelle Dorrance, Barbara Duffy, Felipe Galganni, Derick K. Grant, Jared Grimes, Susan Hebach, Jason Janas, the late Mable Lee, Andrew Nemr, Claudia Rahardjanoto, Sarah Reich, Charles Renato, Tamii Sakurai, Jason Samuels Smith, Melinda Sullivan, Caleb Teicher, Nicholas Van Young, and Dianne Walker, among others. She is also an alum of the American Tap Dance Foundation’s Tap City Youth Ensemble.

Tanya loves being part of the Tap Dance Festival UK Family and is excited to join the festival for the fourth year in a row!
