Tom Shilcock joins Tap Dance Festival UK 2018 Faculty! Tom Shilcock

UK dancer Tom Shilcock trained professionally at Laine Theatre Arts. Tom’s career was kick started after appearing on BBC1’s So You Think You Can Dance (season 2), where he reached the top 5 boys.

Since graduating, Tom has danced for several artists, including Jason Derulo, Meghan Trainor, Take That, Cheryl Cole, Rihanna, Rita Ora, Elton John, Gary Barlow, Mariah Carey, Annie Lennox, Jessie J, Meatloaf, Jamelia & Tulisa.

Tom has appeared on TV shows including Stars In Their Eyes (resident dancer), X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent, The Royal Variety Show, Brit Awards, Sunday Night at the Palladium, Dancing On Ice, ITV Text Santa and was part of the London 2012 Olympics. Tom also enjoys working on various fashion shows, and has appeared in award shows, pantomimes, hair shows, Christmas events and worked with various brands including D&G, puma, T-Mobile, Talk Talk and Morrisons.

Tom has danced at many major music festivals including Wireless, Summertime Ball, Jingle Bell Ball & Radio 1’s Big Weekend. A big achievement for Tom was when he danced for Cheryl Cole & Rita Ora at Wembley Stadium to over 100,000 people.

Tom is proud to be recognised for his achievements so far by dance brand Capezio by awarding him with athlete ambassador status. Tom has taught at all the major London stage schools and is a well known face in the UK dance community. His passion for teaching has allowed him to travel and create Can You Dance? The UK’s First Touring Dance Convention which sees over 14,000 dancers in attendance.

 What are you most looking forward to at Tap Dance Festival UK 2018?

Connecting with more dancers, Experiencing a whole day with them and Inspiring the next generation.


To you, what makes TDFUK different?

There no tap event in the UK like it, it’s one of a kind and I’d recommend dancers to check it out.


Do you have any upcoming projects which you’d like to share?

The 2018 Can You Dance Conventions. You can find more information about them here: and I am launching a Can You Dance company, which is an opportunity for young dancers to train with top choreographers.


Is there any advice you would give to anyone attending TDFUK18, or to any upcoming tappers/dancers?

Come with an open mind, want to progress, want to learn and want to further your ability!

I’m going to give you the tools to make you a better dancer, help you achieve and progress your own career and goals.
