Faculty – Harriet Leigh Spence

Harriet is a dancer, actress, teacher and dance educator based in the Midlands (UK). As a teacher of Tap, Musical Theatre, Jazz, Ballet, Ballroom, Latin and Hip Hop,
Harriet runs Go Dance studios, a busy dance studio in Lincolnshire. She specialises in performance technique and rhythm tap dance and is very passionate about bringing rhythm tap dance into mainstream dance schools in UK. She studied part time at the Urdang Academy, tap dance with Thomas Marek at Footprints Tap Dance in Germany, and Jazz, Tap, Ballet and Contemporary at Off Jazz Dance Center in France. Harriet was a student at Steps on Broadway, NYC with a focus on tap dance and returns every year to New York for training – she has been mentored by Barbara Duffy and Thelma Goldberg, and studied with Michelle Dorrance, Chloe Arnold, Ted Levy, Heather Cornell, Brenda Bufalino, Guillem Alonso, Lynn Schwab, Derick Grant, Nicholas Young.

Harriet is also an avid swing dancer and studies vernacular jazz dance. Alongside teaching, She is a choreographer and director of a variety of dance projects recently receiving Arts Council funding to choreograph for a live music and dance project with the Lincolnshire Music Service for young dancers and musicians.

Harriet is the Founder and Artistic Director of the White Faces Project, a slapstick, vaudeville inspired dance company.

In addition she is an actress and singer pursuing musical theatre roles and plays a variety of roles for Stamford Shakespeare Company’s summer season, including Juliet (Romeo and Juliet) and Hero (Much Ado About Nothing).
