Remember learning the Shim Sham Shimmy at TDFUK? Take a look at our Shim Sham Tutorial from TDFUK’s very own Liz Carroll, who gives you a step by step walk through to help you remember and get Shim Sham ready for TDFUK19!
The Shim Sham Shimmy, choreographed by Leonard Reed and Willie Bryant in the 1920s, is widely regarded as being tap dance’s national anthem. At the end of performances, all of the dancers, singers, and musicians would stand together and do the Shim Sham as a group before taking their final bows. Today, tap dancers all over the world have created their own variations, but the video here shows Liz Carroll teaching a basic version.
